Welfare Rights Service

If you live in Barnsley and are claiming benefits, we can help you.

We'll offer you free, confidential and impartial advice to make sure that you receive your full entitlement from the social security system.

The best way to contact us is by calling our advice line. Our office hours are 10am to 5pm Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays; 10.30am to 5pm Wednesdays; and 10am to 4.30pm Fridays. You can also write to us at Welfare Rights, PO Box 634, Barnsley S70 9GG.

If you have complex issues or you need help to fill in social security benefit application forms, we do run advice sessions at various locations across the borough including some of our libraries.

If you're affected by cancer and need advice about benefits you may be entitled to, we have a small team of specialist Macmillan Benefit Advisors working in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support.

We have many years experience in all aspects of social security law. The team has different backgrounds and work experience but we share the same commitment of making sure that you receive the best possible service when you need it most.
