If you propose to exhibit, train or allow animals to perform anywhere in the borough, you must, under The performing Animals (Regulation) Act 1925, have a registration certificate.
If you don't have a registration certificate, you're committing an offence and can be fined up to £2,500. You may also be banned from exhibiting or training performing animals.
How much it costs
There is a registration fee of £104, which you can pay by debit or credit card by calling (01226) 773743. Check our pay page to see which cards we accept.
Arrangements you need to have in place
If you want to apply for a registration certificate, we'll take into consideration whether:
your animals will have access to suitable accommodation at all time in terms of temperature, lighting, ventilation, and cleanliness
your animals will be suitably fed, watered and attended to
you've take all reasonable precautions to prevent the spread of infectious diseases among your animals
you've take appropriate steps to protect your animals in the event of a fire or other emergency
- you've carried out the necessary risk assessments on any proposed performances by your animals
How to register
Contact us for advice in the first instance as we'll need to arrange an inspection of your premises, before we grant a certificate, to make sure that you have the appropriate arrangements in place.
