Education, employment and training
We believe that you can, with support, achieve your full potential, dreams and ambitions. We will ensure that you have the highest levels of support and assistance to achieve your goals in life.
You will be supported by your TIAG adviser, who will be ready to proudly celebrate your achievements with you.
In Year 9, you will start to think about getting ready for your future. What GCSE options you may choose, what work experience you may undertake and what kinds of careers and pathways you may follow in the future. To start this journey, you will be supported by a TIAG Adviser who will give you independent (not biased) and impartial (in your best interest) information, advice and guidance in relation to all aspects of careers, education, employment and training.
Your TIAG Adviser will support you to complete an Aspirations Audit, which will be reviewed annually, to ensure you receive the most appropriate support to make aspirational and well informed decisions about your future careers, to be fully aware of the progression pathways available to you and to ensure that the help you require in order to achieve your career goals is available and accessible.
Your Pathway Plan will reflect your future ambitions and the support you will receive to achieve them. This information will also be used to shape Barnsley Council’s in-house education, employment and training offer so that you get the best support and access to the best opportunities.
Your TIAG Adviser will continue to support you throughout Year 10 and, with a focus on helping you develop employability skills, identify work experience opportunities and start to consolidate your future plans and ideas, you will be more than ready to make the decisions ahead of you.
In Year 11 you will be prepared to start applications for your post-16 learning. Your TIAG adviser will support you to get into education, employment and training by helping you identify all the options available, complete applications and support you on visits and interviews.
TIAG will be with you at every step of the way to make sure you make the best choices to achieve your ambitions for the future!
And from Year 12 up to the age of 25, your TIAG Adviser will continue to help you get on in education, employment and training by supporting you to achieve, progress and aspire.
