General waste collections
Your grey bins are emptied on a different week to your recycling bins and are for general household waste only.
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOUR BIN COLLECTION DAY MAY BE CHANGING
In response to changes to our recycling service we've experienced a huge demand for blue and brown recycling bins. We're working closely with our bin supplier to maintain stocks and to distribute the bins as soon as we can. However, we estimate that bin deliveries won't be completed until the end of April. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you.
If you're waiting for a recycling bin delivery you can put your recycling out in bags or boxes until you receive your bin and we will collect it.
By general household waste, we mean items that can't be recycled and are mainly for landfill. We collect on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday every other week.
Your bin needs to be near the kerb outside your house from 6am on your collection day, or you can place it there the night before, as long as it doesn't cause an obstruction.
Please don't overfill your grey bin because we won't be able to empty it - the lid should be closed. The lifting mechanism on our wagons has a maximum weight limit of 50kg.
If we've attached a tag to your grey bin this means that you may have put waste materials in the bin that could be recycled. Please remember to place these items in the correct recycling bin in future.
If you can't move your bin because of a disability or medical condition, or you're aged 80 years and over, you may be able to join our assisted collection scheme. This means we'll collect your bin from where it's normally kept and return it for you.
If you have communal waste bins that you share with neighbours, you don't need to move them. We'll pick them up to be emptied and return them to the place they're normally kept.
Important: Don't put any other waste at the side of your bin, it won't be collected.
