Bus and travel disruption due to COVID-19 (coronavirus)

Buses

From Saturday 28 March most services will be running at a reduced frequency, but some extra journeys will be provided to protect shift work and key worker journeys.

You can visit South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive's website to see the revised bus timetables for Barnsley.

See the latest live disruptions to travel in South Yorkshire here.

The reduced timetables will operate until further notice, following government advice around social contact and non-essential travel.

For updates on all local bus, train and tram journeys visit the Travel South Yorkshire website.

School bus services

Most school bus services across the country have been withdrawn. SYPTE is working with the council and schools to maintain the school bus services that are necessary, or to arrange taxis if it's more appropriate.  If you have a zero-fare pass it will be accepted by any bus operator for home to school journeys.

Trains

Northern and TransPennine Express are running reduced frequency timetables.

Further information and revised timetables can be found on the following websites:

Changes have also been made to concessionary bus travel, with passes now being valid on Stagecoach buses before 9.30am. Find out more on the Stagecoach website.

For the safety of both customer and staff all operators please use contactless payment methods to buy your tickets.
