Landlord accreditation scheme

We run a landlord accreditation scheme called Barnsley RentSmart.

Barnsley RentSmart is an online site where landlords can register and upload safety certificates. They can also advertise properties they have for rent. As part of the scheme, they have access to a landlord zone. This includes details about:

• legislation
• their roles and responsibilities
• news updates

As part of Barnsley RentSmart we run landlord events, offer property inspections, as well as access to exclusive services. These include housing advice and licensing discounts. Licensing discounts are £50 or £100; this depends on the star rating of the property. It also includes visitor parking permits and pest control discounts.

There's an annual fee for landlords of £50 plus VAT (£60) for being a member of Barnsley RentSmart.
