All Barnsley library branches are currently closed
Due to COVID-19 (coronavirus) all of our library branches are currently closed until further notice.
You can still access our range of eBooks, eAudio and digital magazines online.
A place to thrive
Our libraries provide a welcoming hub in the community and a safe yet exciting space where you can learn, discover, study and access services.
The Connecting Place on the ground floor of Library @ the Lightbox is not only an open area where you can meet and relax, but also the perfect venue for showcasing work and participating in a range of exciting and engaging events.
If you're searching for a job or looking at improving your skills to get back into work, we provide free help and advice at our job clubs.
We can help with finding jobs online, helping you complete an application form and creating or updating a CV.
You don't need to book to come to a job club - just drop in at one of the sessions.
For help developing language skills we run free conversation cafes - informal drop-ins aimed at helping people improve their spoken English ability.
Sessions include discussions around topical subjects, as well as life in Barnsley.
Conversation cafe takes place at Library @ the Lightbox; find out when in our activity listings.
Learning and discovery
To discover something new, learn a skill or take up a new hobby, our libraries provide a great place to start.
We've an extensive collection of fiction and non-fiction titles you can search online, online resources you can access in the library and at home, plus a range of exciting activities and events where you can get involved.
The ideal place to study
The Study Space in Library @ the Lightbox is a dedicated area for studying, with comfortable sofas and plenty of desk space to complete group projects and homework.
There's also areas to study in all our other library branches.
