Keeping informed and getting involved
Town centre retail and business forum
The forum meets bi-monthly on Thursdays at the Digital Media Centre on County Way.
- Arrive from 5.30pm for tea, coffee and light buffet.
- First session - 5.45pm until 6.45pm - usually focuses on a specific agenda topic which is outlined in advance.
- Coffee break - 15 minutes.
- Second session - 7pm until 7.30pm - covers town centre operational issues such as the ongoing development scheme, as well as policing updates.
Meetings are on the first Thursday of every second month.

Town centre newsletter
We send a monthly newsletter out by email with news and events from around the town centre. It also shares business news and special offers.

The newsletters are issued on third week of each month. If you want to send in any content the deadlines to email any details in are:

Marketing your business
Marketing plan and social media
Our town centre marketing plan draws on extensive analysis of catchment audiences and current shopper profiles. We have a range of communications and visible town centre marketing campaigns, with a numbers of ways for you to get involved.
We have a Facebook page dedicated to promoting the town centre to shoppers and visitors.
As well as liking and sharing the page with friends, family and customers, we can publish content on your behalf. If you have any promotional information you'd like including please contact our town centre team.
ShopAppy - click and collect
We have a click and collect facility for the town centre.
Customers can choose to collect goods direct from each business or from the central collection point at the Digital Media Centre.
The ShopAppy website offers an opportunity for town centre businesses to have an online sales presence for a minimal monthly membership fee. To find out more and register, visit ShopAppy vendors.
Get listed on our business directory
The very popular tourism website for the Barnsley district now has a dedicated town centre page listing all current town centre businesses. To check your entry, you can take a look at the Visit Barnsley website.
Each business can have a 200 word description with their business names, address and phone number. To update your entry, you can email us.

Our town centre team work to promote and support town centre businesses. You can contact the team using the online form on this page. We have dedicated support contacts for independent businesses, market stallholders, high street retailers and national chains. Please get in touch with the team for support tailored to your needs.
The Launchpad Service provides a dedicated team to support any business during their first two years trading. The service is run by Enterprising Barnsley at the Digital Media Centre.
