Here’s a taste of what we’ve been up to during May and June.

Barnsley’s Armed Forces Day service

Saturday 26 June 2021

What a wonderful morning we had to host Barnsley’s Armed Forces Day service.  Sadly, it wasn’t on the scale of previous years with us following restrictions, but, nonetheless, it was a great morning honouring those who served and continue to serve in our armed forces.

I would like to say a huge thank you to Barnsley Met. Band for putting on a wonderful performance, my Chaplain, Fr Crag Tomlinson for leading the service along with Barnsley Central MP Dan Jarvis and Councillor Joe Hayward for delivering readings.

Ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Forget You Not Memorial Garden

Saturday 26 June 2021

I was honoured to be part of the official opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Forget You Not Memorial Garden at Ardsley Crematorium.  Despite being incredibly moving, it was a pleasure to meet the family of a deceased child who was the brains behind the project. After lots of fundraising, they were able to make an idea a reality. What a credit and inspiration they are to us all.
