Remember to bring your photo ID to vote

Remember to bring your ID when you go to vote on 2 May.  

Voters will need to show photo ID at polling stations before you can receive your ballot paper. Accepted forms of ID include a UK, European Economic Area (EEA) or Commonwealth passport; a drivers’ licence, including provisional; some concessionary travel passes, such as an older person’s bus pass or disabled person’s pass; and the new free Voter Authority Certificate.

You'll be able to use an expired ID if you are still recognisable from the photo.

Get ready for MAYhem on the streets of Barnsley

MAYhem is a free street theatre and circus festival coming to a high street, market square or park near you over three successive weekends in May.

There will be a variety of exciting and fun acts, most of them from the Yorkshire area. You can enjoy circus-style performances in our public venues and walkabouts by wandering performers.

Come and enjoy some amazing street theatre and circus right on your doorstep, featuring the likes of Felicity Footloose, Granny Tourismo and Dr Pandemonius Fish.

Historic engine ready to mark a special year at Elsecar Colliery

The world’s oldest steam engine still where originally built, in the heart of South Yorkshire, is ready to celebrate a special anniversary year thanks to local volunteers.

The Newcomen Beam Engine, the oldest steam engine in the world still in its original location, is ready to welcome visitors again after a winter break.

The engine, a Scheduled Ancient Monument of international significance, is found at Elsecar New Colliery, South Yorkshire.
