Borrow, hire or buy

There's lots of support out there to get you started cycling. If you're not sure whether cycling's for you, why not borrow a bike for free for a few months and give it a try? You can also visit one of the helpful centres below. They'll help you with bike hire, servicing and affordable ways to buy.

Active Travel Hub

The active travel hub used to be known as the Cycle Hub. Its based at Barnsley's transport interchange on Eldon Street. It offers:

  • free bike loans
  • bike hire
  • electric bikes
  • bike checks, repairs and maintenance
  • local bike route information
  • secure indoor bike parking and changing facilities

They also sell accessories and accept donated bikes for recycling.

For more information visit the Barnsley Active Travel Hub.

For a small charge children under the age of 7 can hire bikes from the cafe at Elsecar Park.
