Our Summer Challenge

Our Summer Challenge booklet is free for families to download and print at home. It’s full of free, fun activities to keep your family moving throughout the summer.

The booklet includes an adventurer’s checklist, playing backyard basketball or learning a new game from your family member’s childhood and many more exciting challenges. Kids are encouraged to complete acts of kindness while they’re being active and to write down how they feel when they’re moving their body more.

Unfortunately, due to Coronavirus, Beat the Street is unable to take place this year in Barnsley, so this booklet has been created with lots of fun challenges to keep kids moving instead.

Go Discover Trails

Explore your local area, find the markers, and have fun together!

The Go Discover Trails are a family-friendly fun challenge that gives children a sense of adventure as they explore to find markers around parks and town centres. The trails can be found at Cannon Hall, Worsbrough Mill, Elsecar Heritage Centre, Locke Park, Wentworth Castle Gardens* and around Barnsley town centre. It’s the perfect activity for primary and pre-school children and their families.

Older children will have fun competing against their friends or other family members to see who finds all the markers quickest, while younger children will enjoy the excitement of successfully finding the markers.

* Please note that tickets for Wentworth Castle Gardens must be booked in advance.
