Cllr Tim Cheetham, Cabinet Spokesperson for Place, said: "Barnsley Council does not endorse the actions of Daddy Beanz. Barnsley businesses will be expected to follow the guidelines in place to keep all staff and customers safe. We encourage everyone to continue to follow the government guidelines to ensure everyone can enjoy their experience safely, and we will continue to be guided by the government for the lifting of restrictions.
Julia Burrows, Director of Public Health, said: "The hands, face, space, fresh air guidance remain as important as ever in Barnsley, as we are very aware with the rising infection rates in our borough that COVID-19 is still very much with us. We must all do what we can to protect ourselves and our loved ones from the virus.
"Measures such as wearing a face covering, regular hand washing, keeping your distance from others, meeting outdoors where possible and getting both doses of your vaccine when invited will help to reduce transmission and safeguard the further opening up of the economy and the opportunity to enjoy the welcome freedoms we have all missed, safely."
