Cllr Jenny Platts, Cabinet Spokesperson for Communities, said: “Rough sleeping is a very complex issue with no easy solution. As a council, we aim to prevent and eliminate rough sleeping, which we have highlighted in our ‘Prevention of Homelessness Strategy’. We also have an active Homelessness Alliance, across partners in the public and voluntary sectors and are currently running the ‘Help us Help Them’ campaign to assist those experiencing hardship.”
“We are committed to assisting anyone rough sleeping to find accommodation, and if our outreach worker identifies anyone rough sleeping, then we encourage them to engage with the support services available. If members of the public see someone they think is sleeping rough, they can report through streetlink.org.uk to help them to get the assistance they need."
