  • Inspecting building works within the borough to ensure that they are constructed in such a way that they are at least to the acceptable minimum standards set out in the Building Regulations Approved Documents Part A to Part P.

Building Regulation Charges as from 1st October 2010

As from 1st October 2010 new building regulation application charges come into effect. The new fees are as a direct result of new legislation -The Building (Local Authority Charges) Regulations 2010 which authorises all local authorities in England and Wales to individually fix their charges based on the full recovery of their costs for carrying out their main building control functions relating to building regulations.

Most applications will be continue to be subject to a standard charge, however, under the new scheme, some are to now be individually determined - under such circumstances, please contact the Building Control Office to obtain a quotation of charges.

January 2011 VAT Increase

As you will be aware the standard rate of VAT will increase from 17.5% to 20% with effect from Tuesday 4 January 2011.

The Council are a VAT registered business and have to implement the new VAT rate from this date.
