There are a number of public toilets situated throughout the borough. Where possible disabled and baby changing facilities are provided. This service is available to all and the toilets are free to use, although a RADAR key may be needed in order to access some of the disabled toilets. Please see the link on the right hand side of this page for further information about RADAR keys.

All public conveniences are cleaned by Neighbourhood Services on a scheduled frequency, where every possible on a daily basis. Barnsley town centre toilets are maintained by the Town Centre Services. Please see the Barnsley Town Centre map when locating town centre toilets.

If you wish to report leaking or vandalised or dirty toilets you can:

  • Complete an online form to report public toilets and Neighbourhood Services will sort out the problem
  • Email Neighbourhoodservices@barnsley.gov.uk - please provide a specific location of the toilets or, for example, the nearest lamp post number or property/shop number
  • Contact us by telephone on 01226 775656. Lines are open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday (excluding bank and public holidays)
  • Visit a Barnsley Connects service centre
  • Write to us at Barnsley Council, Neighbourhood Services, PO Box 605, S70 9FF.

Cheapside, Barnsley town centre - disabled toilet (RADAR key required). 24 hours. At the Cheapside junction with Peel Square, Eldon Street North and Market Hill
Cannon Hall, Barkhouse Lane, Cawthorne In the courtyard to the rear of the hall.
Cudworth, Barnsley Road 7.30am to 4.30pm.

Outside The Star pub near the junction with St. Johns Road.. Both female and gents

Elsecar Park In line with cafe opening times. Near the cafe at main entrance off Armroyd Lane. Both female and gents
Goldthorpe town centre. 8am to 5pm. On Barnsley Road at the side of the library. Both female and gents
Hoyland Market 7.20am to 4.45pm At the top of the market on Market Street near Beggar and Gentlemen pub. Both female and gents
Locke Park, Park Road, Kingstone 8am to 3pm Near the cafe and bowling greens
Summer Lane Barnsley 24 hours. Summer Lane at the bottom of Stocks Lane opposite Howarth Timber
Penistone Town Centre. 6.30am to 6pm At the top of Shrewsbury Road opposite the entrance to the church
Wombwell Town Centre. 8.30am to 3.30pm. Outside the post office on High Street. Both female and gents

Access is from junctions 36, 37 and 38 of the M1 with J37 just 1 mile from the Town Hall (S70 2TA).

We have frequent rail services to mainline stations at Sheffield, Wakefield and Leeds. There are also five airports within one hour of the town centre, namely Manchester, Doncaster, Sheffield, Leeds, Bradford, Nottingham East Midlands and Humberside.
