Article: Parks and open spaces - maintenance Online interactions for this service Apply for this service Article Body Neighbourhood Services deals with all issues that affect the cleanliness of parks and open spaces, including grass cutting, litter collection, shrub bed maintenance, and needle collections. The council aims to cut the grass approximately every ten working days during the main growing season (end March to end October). During May and June the frequency is increased due to the rapid growth. Shrub bed maintenance consists of weed control, pruning and the removal of litter. The service also provides spring and summer bedding within parks and open spaces. We litter pick both grassed and hard standing surfaces. We also undertake weekly inspections of play equipment and remove any litter, glass and harmful objects such as discarded needles. The public parks and gardens are maintained to enhance the appearance of the borough for visitors. Please dispose of litter in a responsible manner and use the litter bins provided Procedure If you wish to request further information about this service you can: Complete an on-line form Email Neighbourhoodservices@barnsley.gov.uk please provide details of your name, address, telephone number and nature of work required.
