Article: Fly posting - reporting and removal Online interactions for this service Report against this service Article Body Fly posting is the putting up of posters, leaflets, business cards or any other signage advertising an event in public areas or on council land, without consent. Fly posting is both unsightly and illegal. We try to ensure that unauthorised illegal fly posting does not adversely affect residents, businesses or visitors. We have discretionary powers to take enforcement action and prosecute offenders. Fly posting wherever possible is removed the same day as it is reported. Permission is required to display an advert on highway-controlled land or structures; enquiries should be made to the Highways department. Adverts and signage on private land or buildings may need planning permission; enquiries should be made to the Planning department. For further advice on permitted and non-permitted advertisments, please click on the Planning- Advertisement Control link. It is an offence to display an advert without the consent required, or to permit someone else to do so. Procedure Neighbourhood Services is responsible for cleaning the outer of Barnsley town centre and the urban district town centres.
