Discover self-employed opportunities as a childminder

Find out how you can kickstart a career as a childminder at our childminding recruitment drop-in sessions.

Childminders are self-employed childcare professionals who look after children in their own homes. They offer flexible and personalised care for children of different ages and backgrounds and play a vital role in supporting families in our communities.

More people are choosing a career in childminding as it provides flexibility in working hours and rates of pay, alongside the opportunity to develop skills and qualifications all while being your own boss.

We’re hosting regular information drop-in sessions throughout March and April across our Barnsley libraries, to support anyone considering a career as a childminder or any other childcare role.

The session offers the opportunity to ask questions and learn about the benefits and challenges of being a childminder. You will also get information about the training, registration, and funding support available to help you start and run your own childcare business.
