Young people’s views sought to help shape proposed town centre Youth Activity Park

We are asking young people for their views over the design of a new youth activity park in Barnsley town centre.

The park is part of our Barnsley Futures programme funded by the £10.2 million we were awarded in January from the government’s Levelling-Up Fund to improve facilities for children and young people.

Proposed uses for the new Youth Activity Park include skateboarding ramps, a BMX track, spaces for yoga and relaxation and a children’s playground.

The new park will be located off Schwäbisch Gmünd Way, next to the proposed Youth Zone.

And you can have your say by completing our short survey.

Cabinet spokesperson for Regeneration and Culture, Cllr Robin Franklin, said: “This project is driven by our desire to improve the town centre’s offer to the young people of Barnsley.

“We want it to be a place children and young people go to play, have fun and hang out with their friends, so it’s important they are fully involved in helping bring it to life.

“We are keen to hear from as many young people, parents, carers and other residents to help shape our vision of the new park, and I encourage you to take a few minutes to have your say.”

You can complete the survey until January 31, 2024.
