Give us your views on our pavement licence policy

A pavement licence permits certain premises to place removable street furniture in an approved location on the highway. The licenced area is solely to provide for the serving and consumption of food and drink outdoors at such establishments.

Pavement licences are currently determined by the council's Highways department. However, from September 2026 all applications will be determined and enforced by the Licensing service. In line with this change, the Licensing service have produced a pavement licence policy.

We'd like to hear your views on our pavement licence policy, and are running a consultation from Friday 27 March until Friday 5 June 2026.
