Public Path Extinguishment Order 2018 and Public Path Diversion Order 2018

Details

On 29 May 2026 Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council confirmed the above Orders. The effect of the Orders as confirmed is to:

  1. Extinguish part of public footpath 19 Darfield which commences at grid ref 4014/0682 and runs north westerly for 280 metres to grid ref 3993/0701 (A-B).

  2. Extinguish an undefined path which commences at grid ref 3969/0596 and runs north easterly for 55 metres to grid ref 3971/0601 (C-D).

  3. Extinguish an undefined path which commences at grid ref 3978/0607 and runs north easterly for 40 metres to grid ref 3979/0610 (E-F).

  4. Divert part of public footpath 5 Darfield which commences on the access road to Tyers Hall Farm Darfield at grid ref 3965/0593 and proceeds in a generally north easterly direction through a field then north easterly, north westerly and easterly along a farm track to grid ref 4023/0616 (A-B-C-D) onto a new line commencing at the same point on the access road to the farm and running firstly north easterly along the farm access track, then generally easterly crossing fields and a farm track en-route then turning north to re-join the farm track at grid reference 4023/0616 (A-E-F-D), a distance of 735 metres.

  5. Divert part of public footpath 3 Darfield which commences where the footpath leaves the former Wood Lane at grid ref 4017/0631 and proceeds south westerly across a field to a farm track then generally southerly crossing a field to grid reference 4013/0572 (G-C-E-H) ONTO a new line commencing at the same point at grid ref 4017/0631 and running generally southerly along the field edge for 180 metres to grid ref 4023/0616 (G-D) and then commencing at grid ref 4020/0605 and running generally southerly along the field edge for 390 metres to grid ref 4013/0572 (K-J-L-H).

  6. Divert part of public footpath 4 Darfield which commences on a farm track at grid ref 3991/0587 and proceeds easterly for 290 metres to grid ref 4020/0589 (I-J) onto a new line commencing at grid ref 3991/0587 running generally south easterly along a field edge for 235 metres to grid ref 4013/0578 (I-L).

  7. Divert another part of public footpath 4 Darfield which commences on Watering Lane at grid ref 3951/0592 and proceeds westerly then northerly for 55 metres to grid ref 3947/0594 (M-N) onto a new line commencing at grid ref 3951/0592 running north westerly along Watering Lane for 40 metres to grid ref 3947/0594 (A-M).

  8. Divert part of public footpath 1 Darfield which commences at grid ref 3953/0648 and proceeds north easterly for 245 metres to grid ref 3972/0663 (O-P) onto a new line commencing at grid ref 3953/0648 running generally north easterly then northerly for 325 metres to grid ref 3972/0663 (N-P-O).

The Extinguishment Order comes into force on 5 June 2026 and the Diversion Order comes into force on 26 June 2026, but if a person aggrieved by the Orders wants to question their validity, or that of any provision contained in them, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980 (as amended), or on the ground that any requirement of that Act or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Orders, he or she may under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act within six weeks from the date of publication of this notice make an application to the High Court.
