The Barnsley Young People’s Drug and Alcohol Service recently transferred to Barnsley Recovery Steps (part of Humankind).
The service provides easy to access advice, information and support for anyone under 18 or family members supporting a young person who is experiencing issues around drug or alcohol use in Barnsley. The service is free and confidential and we work with a wide range of established partners to make sure that the full needs of every young person is met.
The Barnsley Young People’s Drug and Alcohol Service puts young people first, making support friendly, nonjudgmental and accessible. Assessments take place at a time and in a setting that is most appropriate for each young person which could be at home, at school, via video etc. There are also virtual drop-in sessions taking place during school and college lunch times so as not to disrupt the young person’s routine. Every young person will have their own care plan which they'll design alongside their worker to make sure that it addresses their individual strengths and needs.
Humankind services are underpinned by an inclusive ‘Think Family’ approach, making sure that parents/carers are supported holistically to build individual/family resilience, engage with support and build upon existing strengths and provide a safe, positive family environment
