Children across Barnsley take part in fantastic learning every day outside the classroom - through sport, culture, creativity, and community activities. Becoming a Children’s University learning destination is a simple way to recognise and celebrate that learning.

What the Children's University is

Children’s University is a national programme that values learning beyond the school day. Children earn credits for taking part in validated activities, working towards awards and graduation ceremonies.

The Barnsley Children's University programme is growing as part of our Great Childhoods Ambition, helping more children access enriching opportunities.

Why you should get involved

As a learning destination, you can: 

• give children recognition for learning outside school 
• inspire confidence, curiosity and ambition 
• increase your visibility with schools and families 
• strengthen links with local partners 
• show your organisation’s positive impact on children and young people 

How to register as a learning destination

You can register as a learning destination by having the activities you already offer validated on the Children's University website. Once validated, you’ll receive an activity code to share with children so they can collect their Children’s University credits.
