Get Into Games careers festival

Teenagers Gaming

Get Into Games is coming to Barnsley.

Later in 2026, Get Into Games, the UK’s largest touring event dedicated to careers in the games industry, will be coming to Barnsley, giving young people the chance to explore one of the country’s most exciting and fast‑growing creative sectors.

Delivered by the charity Into Games, the event is designed to support young people who are curious about gaming, creativity and digital careers, whether they already know what they want to do or are just starting to explore their options. The day focuses on building knowledge, confidence and practical understanding of the many different roles that exist within the games industry.

Bringing digital careers to life

Get Into Games offers a packed programme of careers talks led by professionals currently working across the games sector. These sessions give honest insight into real career journeys, helping young people understand the wide range of roles available - from game design and programming to art, narrative, production and leadership.

Speakers share their own experiences of entering the industry, the skills they use day to day, and the different routes young people can take to get there, helping to demystify careers that can often feel out of reach.

Hands‑on workshops and interactive experiences

A key part of the Get Into Games experience is its practical, hands‑on approach. Young people can take part in interactive workshops that encourage creativity, problem‑solving and teamwork, including opportunities to design and test their own game ideas in a supportive environment.

Alongside this, attendees can play a wide range of games and speak directly with developers about how games are made, what inspires them, and what it’s really like to work in the industry. This mix of play, learning and discussion helps bring digital careers to life in a way that feels accessible and engaging.

Advice, connections and next steps

Get Into Games also creates opportunities for young people to speak directly with games industry professionals through short one‑to‑one careers conversations. These informal chats allow young people to ask questions, seek advice and gain reassurance about next steps, whether that’s education, training, building skills or gaining experience.

The event brings together industry professionals, educators and training providers in one place, helping young people understand the different pathways available and start planning their own journey into digital and creative careers.
