School holiday activities

School holidays should be a time for children and young people to have fun, make friends and try new experiences.

Barnsley’s School Holiday Enrichment Programme, delivered through the Great Childhoods Ambition, helps make this possible by offering a wide range of positive activities for children and young people during the school holidays.

The programme supports activities taking place across Barnsley during key holiday periods, giving children and young people the chance to stay active, be creative, learn new skills and enjoy time with others in their community. Activities are designed to be inclusive, welcoming and enjoyable, helping ensure that all children can access enriching experiences outside of the school term. 

What you can expect 

Through the School Holiday Enrichment Programme, children and young people can: 

• take part in fun and engaging activities close to home 
• explore new interests and hobbies 
• build confidence and develop new skills 
• meet new friends and feel part of their community 
• enjoy positive, structured activities during the school holidays 

Activities are delivered by trusted local organisations who already work with children and young people across the borough, helping to ensure sessions are safe, supportive and age‑appropriate.
