Oral health

The best way to protect yours and your families’ teeth is to go for regular check-ups at the dentist. You can find a local dentist by searching for one on the NHS Dental Services page.

Tooth decay and dental disease is largely preventable.  Poor oral health can lead to problems with speaking, eating and socialising, leading to tooth ache and in some cases extractions.

Public Health is responsible for improving the oral health of Barnsley residents. We do this by working with partners such as the Local Dental Committee, Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Community Dental Service and are currently focussing on oral health in care homes and dental neglect.
