Healthy Holidays supports families who need help to access food and activities to keep their children healthy during the school holidays. In Barnsley the scheme is funded by the Department for Education.

Our Healthy Holidays clubs provide children with a delicious and nutritious meal, as well as a range fun activities. The clubs run during the Easter, summer and Christmas school holidays. 

Eligibility

Children who receive benefit-related (means-tested) free school meals can get a free place at the clubs.

If your child's eligible for free school meals, signing up for these even if your child doesn't have the meal and takes a packed lunch instead, still brings lots of other benefits - including access to the Healthy Holidays programme. If your child is in reception class, year 1 or year 2 and receives a school meal automatically, you should still register for free school meals if you're eligible.

Our winter Healthy Holidays clubs

We're looking forward to welcoming children back for festive activities, good food and holiday fun this winter. On offer is:

• Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs pantomime at The Lamproom Theatre on 22 December 2025 and 2 January 2026
• Healthy Holidays Celebration Event at the Metrodome on 23 December 2025
• Community Christmas parties at various locations across Barnsley on 24 December 2025 

Children who receive benefit-related (means-tested) free school meals are eligible for a free place at the pantomime, community parties and the celebration event.

Request tickets for the pantomime

Dates and times for the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs pantomime are as follows:

• Monday 22 December 2025 at 11am
• Monday 22 December 2025 at 3pm
• Friday 2 January 2026 at 1 pm
• Friday 2 January 2026 at 5 pm

You'll need to tell the theatre the number of tickets you'd like (children and adults) and which performance you'd like them for (date and time) in your email or when you call to book.

Booking places for the clubs and celebration event

You can book a place at the clubs from Friday 14 November 2025. Bookings for the celebration event open on Monday 1 December 2025.
