If you're aged between 16 and 24, we've got lots of support to help you get the best start in working life.

Whether you're looking for apprenticeships, paid work placements, or need a bit of extra help, we're here for you. Don’t know where to start? No problem. Get in touch with us and we’ll find the right support for you.

Support available

Youth Hub

With our Youth Hub you can get in touch with one of our advisors for employment advice and support. They'll chat with you about your passions and goals to find the right support for you. They can help you with:

  • improving your confidence with training and skills development
  • learning how to highlight your skills and qualities on your CV for job applications
  • finding opportunities for paid work, apprenticeships, further education, and voluntary work
  • job fairs, mock interviews, and getting ready for the working world

Extra support to get paid work experience

Our Inclusive Offer gives you extra support to get paid work experience in Barnsley. You can benefit from the Inclusive Offer if you:

  • are aged 16 to 24 and not in employment, education or training
  • have been in care
  • have special educational needs
  • have experience with the Youth Justice Service

Through the Inclusive Offer we can:

  • support you to get experience working in different businesses
  • help you get work experience and qualifications to add to your CV
  • help you find out about different job roles you can apply for
  • support you to access paid work opportunities

Targeted information, advice and guidance (TIAG)

Our targeted information, advice and guidance (TIAG) team offers careers advice to young people aged 11 to 19, or up to 25 if you have extra needs or are vulnerable. They'll support and encourage you every step of the way.

You'll get your own personal adviser who'll help you explore your learning and career options, encourage you to reach your goals, and support you to get back into education, employment or training. They can also help you with specialist support for benefits, housing and health issues.
