Help to get you work-ready
If you’re not currently working and looking for a place to start, or if you’re in a job and need some support to upskill or change roles, our friendly team can help you.
We understand that everyone has different goals and circumstances, so speaking to an advisor can help you find what's right for you.
How we can help you
Getting to know you and your goals
Before you start looking for jobs, our advisors can help you explore what's available. They'll help you to understand your skills and abilities and identify training, volunteering or support that might help you to achieve your goals.
We understand that, even if you would like to be working, you may have barriers that make it difficult. We can help you to find local options, like childcare, housing support, benefits advice or other support that could make this easier.
Finding the right opportunity for you
We can look at your current skills and see how they can apply to different job opportunities. You can access a range of support, including help to:
- search for jobs that work for you and your skills
- understand the skills and requirements of the jobs you're looking for
- understand the language that's used in the process or in job adverts
- write CVs or job applications so you can highlight your skills and experience
Interview guidance and preparation
Once you've applied for the jobs that you're interested in, our advisors can help you prepare for the interviews. They can:
- talk you through the interview process and give you tips for success
- support you to feel confident and ready to talk about your skills
- identify any other support that you might need to access opportunities and complete the process; this might include helping you with travel to the interview, finding a suitable interview outfit or arranging childcare
- support you at job interviews if required
Getting ready for your new job
When you've accepted a job offer, it can be a big change to adapt to. Our advisors are here to support you, so you can enjoy a smooth transition.
They might help you with costs for equipment you need, or general advice on how to manage the process. Many people find that having a supportive advisor to talk things through with can help.
Growing your skills while you’re in work
If you're already in work, you can speak to us about options to continue growing your skills and employability. This might be through learning, training or volunteering. This can help you if you’re considering changing jobs, looking for progression in your current job, or finding a role that better suits your circumstances.
You can come to us whether you got your job with help from an advisor, or if it's the first time you've spoken to our team.
