The Glass Works is our award winning £220 million development in the town centre. We’re bucking national high street trends, with a 31.4% increase in town centre footfall from 2019 to 2022.
Our unique events programme is making special memories for residents, driving footfall in the town centre. We’re attracting a huge number of visitors to our museums and attractions across the borough.
Barnsley Museums won the Best Accessible Museum in the Kids in Family Friendly Museum Award 2022. Also a shortlist for Art Fund’s Museum of the Year 2021.
We're proud of our award winning events. In December 2022 our Arts and Events team received Best Council Events Team. This was at the National Outdoor Events awards.
Entry to Barnsley Museums is free of charge. We do ask for donations to enable the museums to create access to the collections and retell Barnsley’s stories. Also having wonderful things to do for people of all ages.
