Here in Barnsley, we want to make sure all our children and young people can live happy, healthy lives and achieve their full potential. We’re running a consultation to better understand how young people in care and care leavers speak with their social workers and personal assistants (PAs).

We’re currently considering developing an app which will help young people in care stay in touch with their social workers and PAs. Developed alongside Mind of My Own, the app would help our borough’s young people share their lived experiences in care and have their voices heard.

If you’re a young person in care or a care leaver, we want to hear what you think!

Your views will help us decide whether to bring the app to Barnsley. You can have your say at https://surveys.barnsley.gov.uk/s/42HQR7/.

Alternatively, you can speak to your social worker, PA or Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to fill out the survey and help you have your say. If you’d feel more comfortable, please ask your foster carer to speak to them so they can let us know your thoughts.

Your answers will be reported to senior leaders in Children’s Social Care, who will decide whether to bring the app to Barnsley. You will be able to find out more about the decision through your social worker or PA in the coming months.
