Adult Social Care teams give national leaders plenty of reason to celebrate

Our Adult Social Care teams came together yesterday for our second-annual Social Work Teams celebration event, held at Shaw Lane Sports Club.

This event serves as an opportunity to thank our teams for everything they do for our communities and recognise their remarkable achievements and successes over the past year.

From colleagues earning new qualifications to our double Council of the Year awards success over the summer, it was a fun-filled afternoon for everyone with plenty of reasons to celebrate.

The event was graced by special guests, including Sarah Norman, our Chief Executive, Lyn Romeo, Chief Social Worker for Adults at the Department of Health and Social Care, and Maris Stratulis, National Director for the British Association of Social Workers.

We also got to look towards the future of Adult Social Care in Barnsley, introducing guests to our new Adult Social Care and Wellbeing Practice Framework.

Building on the key themes of our People Strategy, this framework will help our teams be the best they can be, with the tools and training opportunities they need to continue growing.

We’re really excited about what this will mean for both our teams and our communities, embedding a strengths-based approach to our work to help us achieve the best outcomes for you, our residents.

Councillor Jo Newing, Cabinet Spokesperson for Place Health and Adult Social Care, said: “Our Adult Social Care teams do so much for our communities, helping people enjoy the best care and support when they need it and continue doing the things that matter most to them.

“They truly change lives across Barnsley, so it was great to join them at their Social Work Teams celebration and thank them for everything they do. We had so many fantastic achievements and successes to celebrate, which is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our Adult Social Care teams, who make such a difference in our borough.”
