Have your say on our draft Housing Strategy

We’d like your views on our draft Housing Strategy.

Developed in consultation with stakeholders and partners from Berneslai Homes, our draft strategy sets out the Council's priorities for housing in Barnsley over the next four years.

Our new strategy acknowledges key issues affecting housing in Barnsley and the impact they have on residents. It outlines our plans to address these issues through collaboration and partnership working, while also aligning with other key strategies and plans through four pillars:

  • Pillar 1 – Maximising existing borough stock
  • Pillar 2 – Supporting strong and resilient communities
  • Pillar 3 – Supporting people to live healthy, independent lives
  • Pillar 4 – Enabling sustainable housing growth to meet need

Our consultation is open from Monday 15 October to Monday 13 November. Read our draft Housing Strategy and have your say. Paper copies will be available at libraries across our borough.

Cllr Robin Franklin, Cabinet Spokesperson for Regeneration and Culture, said: “It’s important that we get the views of local people and stakeholders in our draft Housing Strategy.

“Your views will lead directly into the final strategy, as we continue to strive to ensure that our work is led by our residents and communities across the borough.

“I’d encourage everyone to have their say”.
