Join us to honour and celebrate our armed forces at Barnsley's civic service.

Barnsley Council invites you to join us this Saturday, 24 June, at 10.30 am in Pals Square, located at the side of the Town Hall, for a special Civic Service dedicated to our brave Armed Forces. Accompanied by the renowned Barnsley Metropolitan band, this event promises to be a heartfelt tribute to the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country.

Following the resounding success of our recent Armed Forces celebration and parade in the town centre on Saturday, 10 June, we wanted to create another opportunity to come together as a community and commemorate the courage and sacrifice of our armed forces personnel.

This service is open to the public, and we invite you to show your gratitude and appreciation for our service personnel by attending. It's a chance for us all to stand together and express our unwavering support for our armed forces community.

Barnsley takes great pride in the support and care we provide to our armed forces community. We have demonstrated our commitment by signing up to the Armed Forces Covenant, affirming our dedication to their welfare and well-being. In recognition of our efforts, we have proudly achieved the Gold Award for the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.

The Mayor of Barnsley, Councillor James Michael Stowe, expressed his deep admiration for the men and women who have served our country and extended his warm invitation to the community to join in this significant event. “ We are immensely proud of our armed forces community in Barnsley. This Civic Service is an opportunity for us to come together, remember their sacrifices, and show our heartfelt gratitude. Let us join together and honour those who have dedicated their lives to protect ours.”

Whether you are a currently serving troop, a service family member, a veteran, or a cadet, this event is a testament to our appreciation for your service and commitment.

Please mark your calendars and be part of this occasion as we pay tribute to our armed forces. Let us demonstrate that Barnsley stands united in support of those who have selflessly defended our nation.
