There’s plenty to do at our Healthy Holidays clubs this Summer

The summer holidays are on their way, and Healthy Holidays is back next week providing fun activities and tasty food at holiday clubs across Barnsley.

Funded by the Department for Education, this summer’s Healthy Holiday clubs will run from Monday 24 July to Friday 25 August 2023, with plenty of fun summer activities taking place across Barnsley. Children who receive benefit-related (means-tested) free school meals can be booked onto a free place at any of the clubs. They can attend a club every day and places are subject to availability.

There's a range of clubs taking place across the borough. Each club includes a range of fun activities for children to enjoy, such as cookery, arts and crafts, gymnastics, team sports, outdoor activities, and more. A healthy meal will also be provided at every club.

To book your child onto one of the holiday clubs, just head to where you can take a look at what’s on and book onto any of the clubs all in one place.

If your child is eligible for Healthy Holidays over the summer you’ll have also received a letter through the post, with more information on the clubs available and how you can book a place.

This summer, we’re also running two celebration events at Barnsley Metrodome. These events will be open to all children, including those who don’t receive free school meals. You can find out more about the events and book a place at

Cllr Wendy Cain, Cabinet Spokesperson for Public Health and Communities, said: “We’re really pleased that Healthy Holidays is back for the summer holidays, continuing to support those in our borough who need it over the school break. I’d really encourage anyone eligible to sign up to the clubs; with such a wide variety of activities and food on offer there’s something for everyone.”
