Public path extinguishment order 2022 and public path creation order 2022Details
On 4 July 2025 Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council confirmed the above Orders. The effect of the Orders as confirmed is to:
- Extinguish the full width of a section of Thurgoland public bridleway no. 16 which commences south west of Toad Hall Farm at grid reference 2933 / 0149 and proceeds generally north west to join Thurgoland Hall Lane at grid reference 2923 / 0178, a total distance of 320 metres,
- Extinguish the full width of a section of Thurgoland public footpath no. 17 which commences south west of Toad Hall Farm at grid reference 2932 / 0148 and proceeds generally north east to join Thurgoland Hall Lane at grid reference 2933 / 0176, a total distance of 300 metres,
- Create a public bridleway with a width of 3.0 metres throughout which commences south west of Toad Hall Farm at grid reference 2933 / 0149 and proceeds south west then generally north to join Thurgoland Hall Lane at grid reference 2923 / 0178, a total distance of 475 metres, and
- Create a public footpath with a width of 2.0 metres throughout which commences on Thurgoland Hall Road at grid reference 2933 / 0176 and proceeds generally north west parallel to the road to re-join Thurgoland Hall Road at the access track to Toad Hall Farm at grid reference 2925 / 0179, a total distance of 100 metres, as shown on the order maps.

Both of the above Orders will come into force on 11 July 2025, but if a person aggrieved by the Orders wants to question their validity, or that of any provision contained in them, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980 (as amended), or on the ground that any requirement of that Act or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Orders, he or she may under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act within six weeks from the date of publication of this notice make an application to the High Court.
