Help for businesses to offer supported employment roles
Having a learning disability or difficulty, or an additional support need, doesn’t mean that people can’t work or learn new skills. It just means they may need a little extra help along the way.
It's estimated that 20% of people in the UK have some form of disability or additional support need affecting their ability to get a job. Our supported employment and volunteering service helps those who may have difficulties in learning or require extra support to do well at work. We work to highlight their skills and make changes in the hiring process to make it easier for them to get job opportunities.
We have a pool of eager and hardworking future employees who can make a great addition to your business. If you're interested in offering an opportunity to someone who needs extra support, our team can help you every step of the way.
How we can help
We offer different recruitment solutions at no extra cost to businesses. This helps people who are underrepresented in the workforce, using the nationally recognised five-stage model of supported employment.
We can help you create opportunities, recruit the right people, and train them in their new role. We'll look at the skills your business needs and match these to potential employees. Our job coaches support people once they're in work or volunteering, providing ongoing support to help them achieve their goals and build their confidence
With support at every stage of the process, we'll work with you to improve the diversity of your workforce.

More details about our service
Our service is part-funded by the UK government’s Local Supported Employment (LSE) scheme. This is designed to help adults over the age of 18 who have learning disabilities or autism into work.
We work with:
- South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority
- Sheffield City Council
- City of Doncaster Council
- Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council
Delivering DWP local supported employment helped 56 people with a learning disability or autism into employment during 2023-24 in Sheffield, Doncaster and Barnsley. We worked with over 30 employers to do this.
We also work with Speakup Self Advocacy as part of their Employment is for Everyone project to offer chances to people across South Yorkshire with learning disabilities and autism.
