Healthier Futures Barnsley

Welcome to Healthier Futures Barnsley

Healthier Futures Barnsley is designed to provide education settings with high quality local and national resources and toolkits to support the development and delivery of the relationships education, relationships and sex education and health education curriculum.

We've collated an extensive package of primary and secondary resources, including lesson plans and policy guidance, which can be found in the sections below. All resources have been quality assured by our Public Health team and we believe they'll be useful to help improve children and young people’s understanding of the following topics:

  • emotional health and wellbeing
  • relationships and sex education
  • physical health
  • faith and religion
  • equality and diversity
  • LGBT
  • internet safety
  • drugs, alcohol and tobacco

Healthier Futures Barnsley also contains a list of the key PSHE and RSE dates throughout the year.

Let's Hear Your Voice

The children and young people’s health and lifestyle survey 'Let's Hear Your Voice' is an in-depth, evidence-based questionnaire. It was designed in collaboration with children and young people, teachers and Public Health.

This survey will run every two years, enabling staff to see trends develop overtime and enable local services to target specific programmes in the areas and for the children that need it.

Healthier Futures Barnsley Award

The Healthier Futures wheel is an interactive assessment tool with specific guidance and examples on PSHE in schools to support you to easily evidence your approach to health and wellbeing. The programme includes a free accreditation for local schools and early years settings.

The dedicated team will provide advice and support to teachers and professionals to achieve the award. By working towards the award, education settings will be able to not only improve the health and wellbeing of children and their families, but will also be meeting a range of local and national priorities.
