AI Development and Innovation

In the area of AI development and innovation, the service actively promotes the adoption of Artificial Intelligence across council services. It works closely with service champions to optimise the benefits of AI, providing the necessary tools, knowledge, and governance for implementing advanced AI solutions. The service is also responsible for software development, website development, and automation initiatives. Strategically, the service acts as the Data Protection Officer (DPO) for the council, providing independent assurance on compliance with data protection law. It oversees governance structures such as the Governance and Compliance Board and leads initiatives on data and AI integration. This includes upskilling staff across the organisation in data competencies, establishing platforms for open data and Power BI reporting, and using AI for data matching, predictive analytics, and service optimisation.
