Children's activities

Your local library will have a programme of regular activities and school holiday events that children and families can join in with.

What's on

We host exciting events and activities for children throughout the year.  We have regular Story and Rhyme sessions and run a Bookstart  scheme with sessions for babies and young children.

Hoyland Library run a children's reading group on the first Monday of each month, from 4.30 to 5.15pm (for children aged eight to 11).

We also work with schools in the borough to organise activities that encourage children to develop a love of reading.

School holidays

When school's out for the holidays we plan a full range of fun things for you to join in with.

Every year we launch our Summer Reading Challenge at the start of the school summer break.

How do I book?

Our activities and events are really popular, so you'll need to reserve a place by telephoning the appropriate branch library.

There may be a small charge of 50p or £1:00 for some of our school holiday sessions to cover the costs of any materials and children's entertainers.  You'll be advised of this at the time of booking.

Please note that any children under the age of 8 will need to be accompanied by an adult.
