All caravan sites in Barnsley need a site licence and planning permission.

If you want to operate a caravan site on your land, you should contact our planning service for pre-application planning advice to find out if the site would likely be allowed.

If the site is likely to be allowed, you then need to apply for planning permission. If permission is granted, a caravan site licence will be issued which considers the following:

  • permitted numbers

  • spacing between caravans

  • type of caravans

  • water supply and drainage

  • lavatory and drainage facilities

  • fire precautions

  • electrical installations
