Vehicle pollution
Sitting in your car with the engine running is noisy and damages the environment unnecessarily.
Smoke and fumes that come from vehicle exhausts are harmful to health. They contain chemicals which are toxic, and there's no reason we should breathe the fumes into our lungs. It's also a waste of fuel and can damage your engine. If you're stopped for more than 10 seconds, switch off your engine.
Exhaust emission testing is part of the routine inspection when you take your car in for its MOT test.
