Cellars, pavement lights and ventilation licence

You need a licence to create a cellar underneath a building, or to install pavement lights or ventilation systems underneath a street.

We grant licences subject to:

  • the diversion of statutory undertakers' apparatus (eg pipes, cables, ducts etc)

  • the method of work for the duration of the works

  • measurements of cellar grate/pavement lights or ducts

  • maintenance of apparatus by the owner

  • public liability insurance in case of accident or claim

Before applying for a licence, you must already have planning permission for the work you plan to undertake.

Fees

The fee for this licence is £194. You'll need to pay the fee online after we've sent you an invoice.
