Visit Barnsley

Food to suit everyone's taste

Barnsley town centre has something for everyone. You’ll be spoiled for choice when you visit! When it comes to eating and drinking, we’ve got you sorted.

If you’re wanting a well known favourite, make your mouth water at The Botanist, Nando's, Fridays, or 200 Degrees coffee shop, all in The Glass Works. Or if independent is more your style, you can sample Turkish cuisine at Lemon Tree, Brazilian grill at Favela or Estabulo, tapas at the Salt House, Italian at 1Momento, and finish up at Dolly’s Desserts.

Barnsley town centre’s coffee culture is ever-growing. Just a few we’d recommend are: Old George, Old Ivy Shed Cheesecakery, or Coffee Boy.

Nights out

Start your Barnsley town centre night out at Market Kitchen – our incredible food court on the top floor of Barnsley Market that seats over 500 people. There’s a huge variety of food stalls and cafes, alongside Barnsley’s first sky lounge - Cucina. Grab one of their signature cocktails and head out to the rooftop terrace.

We’d recommend carrying on your night at The Victorian Arcade, where you’ll find a huge range of bars and pubs with great music and atmosphere. Stunning, historical buildings meet cool, contemporary nightlife.

As the night gets later, head over to Wellington Street and Peel Street for nightclubs and bars. You're sure to have a safe, fun night out, as our town centre has been awarded Purple Flag status for four consecutive years.

Make a night of it

Our town centre has Purple Flag status, meaning it offers entertaining, diverse, safe and enjoyable nights out.

Why not make a night of it with a gig, comedy night or visit to the theatre? With Premier Inn, Holiday Inn and Hotel Ibis nearby, staying over is easy too.
