A by-election will be held on 30 July 2026 to elect a new councillor for Hunshelf Parish Council.

Nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer, Town Hall, Church Street, Barnsley, S70 2TA between 9am and 5pm on any working day from the date of publication of this notice (excluding bank holidays) but no later than 4pm on Friday 3 July 2026.
Nomination papers may be obtained from the offices of the Returning Officer, Town Hall, Church Street, Barnsley, S70 2TA during the times stated above.
If any election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday 30 July 2026.
Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on Tuesday 14 July 2026. Applications can be made online: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, Town Hall, Church Street, Barnsley, S70 2TA by 5pm on Wednesday 15 July 2026.
Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Elector’s Document valid for this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Wednesday 22 July 2026. Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate can be made online https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate.
Applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, Town Hall, Church Street, Barnsley, S70 2TA by 5pm Wednesday 22 July 2026.
Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on the grounds of physical incapacity or for work/service reasons must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, Town Hall, Church Street, Barnsley, S70 2TA by 5pm on Thursday 30 July 2026. The physical incapacity must have occurred after 5pm on Wednesday 22 July 2026. To apply on the grounds of work/service, the person must have become aware that they cannot go to the polling station in person after 5pm on Wednesday 22 July 2026.
