Wage subsidy scheme
Get up to 13 weeks of fully funded wages when you hire a young person.
If you run a small business in Barnsley with less than 250 employees, you may be able to receive up to 13 weeks of wages paid for when you hire a young person aged 16 to 30 through Pathways to Work. This is a great way to support homegrown talent and give a young person the chance to build real skills and experience.
Why it’s great for your business
As part of this offer you'll benefit from:
up to 13 weeks of wages funded at National Minimum Wage (up to £6,000)
dedicated support for your new employee from the Pathways to Work team to help them settle in and succeed
support for your business through Be Well @ Work, helping you keep your team healthy and productive
low risk, high reward: extra capacity for your team while helping to develop Barnsley’s future workforce
Once your application has been approved to take on a young person, we'll work with you to identify an individual who needs to be:
fully signed up to Pathways to Work and receiving support
aged 16 to 30
economically inactive
The 13-week wage will be fully funded by the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined (SYMCA).
Eligibility
Your business is eligible for the scheme if you:

can offer a new role lasting more than six months
can provide full time or part time hours (16 to 35 hours per week)
