Councillor James Higginbottom, Cabinet Spokesperson for Environment and Highways, said:

"At this time each year, we carry out renovation work on our football fields. The supply of top soil has remained the same for many years however, this year's has unfortunately been of a lower quality and the recent rain has washed away the soil leaving stone materials exposed.

We’re currently in the process of renovating the site with new soil which should be completed by the end of the week, and we’ll take every possible step to ensure health and safety is maintained on-site."
