Barnsley celebrates improvements in latest performance report

Our latest Corporate Performance report highlights some fantastic outcomes between October and December 2025. The report, which will be discussed at Cabinet on Wednesday 1 April, shows positive momentum across our Barnsley 2030 ambitions.

One of this quarter’s standout achievements is an 18% fall in anti-social behaviour incidents per 1,000 people. This reflects the ongoing hard work of teams and our partners across the borough. Other highlights from the report include:

Healthy Barnsley

  • 90% of identified risks in Section 42 safeguarding enquiries were reduced or removed. This means that when adults were identified as being at risk of harm, our specialist safeguarding team worked closely with them and other agencies to put the right support in place. This is helping people feel safer, more in control, and better protected in their day‑to‑day lives.

Learning Barnsley

  • Currently, 13% of children and young people in Barnsley’s schools are receiving SEN support. This means these pupils have been identified as needing some extra help with their learning.

Sustainable Barnsley

  • Our cultural and heritage sites remain extremely popular, with nearly 550,000 visits recorded across museum grounds and outdoor sites this quarter.

Enabling Barnsley

  • We’ve collected over 98% of business rates this year, which shows local businesses are continuing to do their bit despite tough economic conditions. This contribution helps to fund services residents rely on every day.

Councillor Robert Frost, Cabinet Spokesperson for Core Services, said: “It’s great to see Barnsley continuing to move in the right direction. This progress is a real team effort, with our employees, partners, businesses and communities all playing their part. Together, we’re showing what’s possible in the place of possibilities.”
