Barnsley Council's Legal Services shortlisted for Yorkshire Legal Awards

We’re delighted to announce that Barnsley Council's Legal Services have been named as a finalist for the In-House Team of the Year category in The Yorkshire Legal Awards.

Our Legal Services’ success is driven by its proactive approach to legal challenges, innovative problem-solving and dedication to upholding the highest standards in legal practices.

They're committed to making a positive impact in Barnsley through their ongoing work promoting social justice, environmental sustainability and responding to public health matters. From preventing the sale of illicit tobacco or vapes to fly-tipping and environmental crimes, they support our most vulnerable communities and safeguard children. Our team works together to make sure Barnsley continues to be a safe place.

The team has also introduced a law academy and appointed their first trainee solicitor and apprentice, showing a commitment to developing our own talent and meeting the needs of the council and residents.

Cllr Robert Frost, Cabinet Spokesperson for Core Services, said: "We're extremely proud that our Legal Services have been recognised for the fantastic work that they do. Being a finalist in this year's Yorkshire Legal Awards highlights the incredible talent, work and culture of the team.

“It also showcases the real commitment to excellence made by our Legal Services. We wish the team the best of luck in the judging process for the awards"
